More than Senior Pictures - A reflection of who they are today
Senior year is the culmination of years of hard work, friendships, accomplishments, and personal growth. From Friday night football games and theater productions to dance recitals, volunteer work, and everything in between, it's a season filled with moments that have helped shape who you are.
As graduation approaches, life is about to change. Senior pictures aren't just about documenting what you look like before you walk across the stage—they're about celebrating who you are right now. These images preserve your personality, passions, and the excitement of standing on the edge of your next adventure.
Anyone can take a picture with a smartphone, but creating meaningful senior portraits takes intention. My goal is to create a fun, personalized experience that helps you feel confident, comfortable, and celebrated while capturing images that truly reflect who you are. Because these aren't just senior pictures—they're the beginning of your story.
The Senior Experience
You deserve more than a rushed photo session and a download link. At Giftbox Creations Photography, I've carefully designed every step of the process to make senior portraits feel exciting, stress-free, and meaningful for both seniors and their families. From the very first conversation to the final delivery of your artwork, you'll have someone guiding you every step of the way.
1) Discovery
Every senior experience begins with getting to know you. After you inquire, you'll receive my Welcome Magazine filled with information about the senior experience, pricing, frequently asked questions, and what it's like to work together. From there, you can book your session, schedule a consultation call, or reach out with any questions.
Once you're ready to move forward, both parents and seniors complete personalized questionnaires that help me learn about your personality, interests, accomplishments, style, and goals for your session. The more I know about what makes you unique, the better I can create senior portraits that truly tell your story.
No two seniors are alike, which is why every session is customized to reflect your personality and style. During your consultation, we'll plan everything from outfits and locations to props, pets, must-have images, timing, and weather backup plans. I'll help coordinate your wardrobe with your chosen locations and offer guidance every step of the way.
Leading up to your session, you'll receive planning resources, preparation tips, and personalized recommendations to help you feel confident and ready. You don't have to figure everything out on your own—I'm here to make the process easy, fun, and stress-free.
2) Planning
This is where the fun begins. My most popular senior experience, the With Honors Session, lasts approximately 2–3 hours and allows plenty of time for multiple outfits, locations, and creative ideas that reflect who you are. Whether you're an athlete, musician, honor student, or simply want images that feel authentically you, we'll create a gallery that celebrates your personality and accomplishments.
No modeling experience is required. I'll guide you through natural posing, movement, and expressions so you can relax, have fun, and feel confident in front of the camera. From a personalized playlist to a portable changing tent, I've thought through the details so you can focus on enjoying the experience.
3) Portrait Session
4) Personal Image Reveal & Ordering
About two weeks after your session, we'll meet for your personal image reveal and ordering appointment. You'll enjoy a custom slideshow of your senior portraits while viewing samples of albums, wall art, photo boxes, and other heirloom products designed to preserve this special season.
Together, we'll select your favorite images and choose the products that best fit your family's style, home, and budget. With personalized guidance every step of the way, you can feel confident knowing you'll walk away with meaningful artwork and keepsakes you'll treasure for years to come.
In a world where most photos live on phones and are quickly forgotten, senior portraits preserve a once-in-a-lifetime season that deserves to be remembered. They capture who your senior is right now—before graduation, new adventures, and the next chapter begins.
Years from now, these images will be more than photographs. They'll be cherished reminders of a season filled with growth, accomplishments, and memories that your family will treasure for generations.
Location Portfolios
Hi There! I’m Jeni, the owner and main photographer of Giftbox Creations Photography LLC.
If you had told my middle school self—standing in a darkroom developing film by hand—that photography would one day become my career, I probably wouldn't have believed you. More than 25 years later, I still love using my camera to preserve the moments that matter most.
As a mom of two recent high school graduates, I know just how quickly these years pass. Senior year is filled with accomplishments, big decisions, and excitement about what's next—and I believe it's a season worth remembering.
That's one of the reasons I love photographing seniors. I enjoy hearing about their passions, goals, and future plans, and I love watching their confidence grow throughout the session. My goal is to create an experience that feels relaxed, fun, and true to who they are.
You don't have to know how to pose or consider yourself "photogenic." I'll guide you every step of the way so you can simply show up as yourself while I handle the rest.
A few fun facts about me:
I'm married to my high school sweetheart.
I'm the proud mom of two recent graduates.
I'm an assistant coach for the Coon Rapids High School gymnastics team.
I was a gymnast and diver myself.
Luna, our Boston Terrier, keeps life entertaining.
I’m also short!
Most of all, I believe this season deserves to be remembered. Before college move-in days, first jobs, and all the adventures ahead, there's this moment—and it's worth preserving.

Why Families Choose Giftbox Creations
Families have no shortage of photographer options in the Twin Cities. What makes Giftbox Creations Photography different isn't just the images—it's the experience.
Senior year is busy enough without adding another project to your to-do list. From outfit planning and location selection to ordering artwork for your home, I guide you through every step so you can enjoy the experience instead of feeling overwhelmed by it.
Many seniors arrive nervous about being in front of the camera. By the end of their session, they're relaxed, confident, and having fun. My goal is to create portraits that feel authentic while helping every senior feel seen, celebrated, and proud of who they are.
I also believe your images deserve more than a folder on your phone. That's why I help families turn their favorite portraits into albums, wall art, and keepsakes that can be enjoyed for years to come. Every product is carefully selected and inspected to ensure it meets the quality your family deserves.
If you're looking for more than a quick photo session—if you want guidance, exceptional service, and an experience your family will genuinely enjoy—I'd be honored to help celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime season.

Beyond the Senior Session
Senior year is about more than one photo session—it's about experiences, friendships, and memories you'll carry long after graduation.
Throughout the year, I occasionally offer exclusive creative opportunities for seniors who want to be part of something extra. These may include themed shoots, unique locations, seasonal concepts, sports sessions, college commitment celebrations, cap-and-gown events, or other creative projects designed to create one-of-a-kind images and unforgettable memories.
Some opportunities are offered through my Senior Creative Team, while others are announced as limited model calls. This flexible approach allows seniors to participate in the experiences that interest them most without committing to a full-year program.
These sessions are about more than photos. They're a chance to build confidence, connect with other seniors, try something new, and celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime season in a fun and meaningful way.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
The end of summer and early fall are the most popular times for senior pictures in the Twin Cities, and those dates tend to fill quickly.
When deciding when to book, think about the season that best reflects your personality and vision. Do you love the lush greens of summer, the vibrant colors of fall, the snowy magic of winter, or the fresh blooms of spring? Some seniors even choose my Valedictorian Session so they can capture two different seasons.
-
I recommend booking at least two months in advance to ensure you get your desired date and to allow enough time to properly plan.
-
We'll work together to create a wardrobe plan that reflects your personality and interests. I recommend 5-7 outfits and go into more detail within the planning step. Consider:
1 signature outfit that best represents you (what you are seen wearing most days),
1-2 casual outfits, 1 dressier outfit (one that you might wear to church, a family dinner or gathering),
1 formal outfit to highlight a different style and
1-2 sport/club outfits that represents your passions and interests.
I'll provide detailed guidance, outfit feedback, Pinterest inspiration, and preparation materials so you feel confident before your session.
-
Each session is customized for each senior based on their interests. I have several locations that I have personally checked out near water, woods, downtown areas, graffiti walls, fields, flowers and parks.
-
Yes.
I partner with talented hair and makeup artists throughout the Twin Cities and can coordinate those services for you.
Professional hair and makeup are available for an additional fee, which is typically around $150.
-
Minnesota weather likes to keep us guessing.
During the planning process, we'll identify a backup date just in case Mother Nature doesn't cooperate.
As your session approaches, I'll monitor weather conditions closely and determine whether we should move forward or utilize our alternative date.
Light overcast skies often provide some of the most beautiful lighting, and even scattered showers can sometimes work if we have a dry window during our scheduled timeframe.
The goal is to create amazing images without unnecessary stress.
-
Your investment depends on the type of experience and products you choose.
Most families select my popular With Honors Session, which includes 2–3 hours of photography, multiple locations, and several outfit changes. The session fee is $295, and products and digital images are purchased separately.
Popular product choices include:
Mini Album Collections starting at $995
Heirloom Album Collections starting at $1,845
Individual portraits available for $95 each, including your choice of a mounted or unmounted print plus the corresponding digital file
Most Giftbox Creations families invest approximately $1,600 for their complete senior portrait experience, including the session fee and products.
-
You are not required to purchase traditional prints.
However, I do require the purchase of a tangible product in order to receive digital images.
Options include:
Albums
Wall art
Photo boxes
Folios
Gift prints
Acrylic display pieces
Each product includes its corresponding digital files, allowing you to both preserve your memories beautifully and share them online.
-
During the planning process, we will set a time about 1-2 weeks after your portrait session for your personal reveal and ordering session. Product orders are delivered within a few weeks after that.
-
Absolutely.
Pets are part of the family, and they often help bring out genuine smiles and interactions.
I recommend having a trusted friend or family member bring your pet to the session after we've started photographing. This allows you to enjoy the full experience without worrying about your furry friend the entire time.
Once we've captured those special moments together, your helper can take your pet home while we continue the rest of your session.
-
Absolutely.
In fact, I encourage it.
Parents and best friends often help seniors relax and bring out authentic expressions and laughter. Plus, this season passes quickly, and I love encouraging families and close friends to hop in for a few photographs together.
Those images often become unexpected favorites.
-
Yes.
While I specialize in senior portraits throughout Minneapolis, St. Paul, Blaine, Coon Rapids, and the surrounding Twin Cities area, I'm happy to travel.
Locations more than approximately 45 minutes away may incur a travel fee, and destination sessions are available for an additional investment.
-
First, they're not alone.
Many of my favorite seniors have started the process convinced they hated being photographed. During our consultation, we'll talk about what makes them uncomfortable and what typically causes stress around pictures.
Then, during the session, we'll focus on creating an experience that feels natural.
We'll walk.
We'll talk.
We'll listen to their favorite playlist.
We'll laugh.
Instead of expecting them to perform for the camera, I'll guide them through prompts and interactions that allow them to simply be themselves.
More often than not, seniors end the session saying, "That was actually fun."
